The members of Christ’s Youth in Action along with the youth of Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon looked forward to the Summer Games, an annual event where they come together in a highly competitive environment, and yet relating to one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.
This edition of the Kairos Summer Games was not different. Despite their busy schedules all teams were busy practicing and preparing themselves several days before the actual date of the competition.
This year welcomed back our older working brothers and sisters, who had taken a leave of absence, and we also introduced a new team made of young professionals from the community. The 3 University Districts of Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon were integrated into the 3 Christ Youth in Action (CYA) teams which are called Hubs.
This year’s theme, rooted in Philippians 4:13: “I can do ALL things IN him who strengthens me” all teams gave their “ALL IN”. Giving their best despite all challenges and adversities faced.
We were in awe watching the immense competition among the highly capable teams throughout the 2 days. We saw an older brother, unexpectedly, become the focal point of their basketball team and lead his younger brothers to the final round which they eventually won and secured the championship. We celebrated the Millennium Falcons, our new team of young professionals, winning 3rd Overall in the Games. We cheered as we saw all six energetic crews perform their cheer dance routines and congratulated the cheer-dance champions. Finally, we crowned a returning Overall Champion from the Royal North.
The Kairos Summer Games 2017 were truly a blessing to all! The Organizing team, with a lot of newbies, had a rocky start in preparing for these games. Yet, through their faith in one another and the one who called them, they went ALL IN and pulled through in managing the biggest Summer Games so far.
With the promise of continued support from the Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon community, Summer Games 2018 will definitely be another well anticipated event for the Youth of Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon.
To borrow a cheer from one of the teams: “FOR HIS GLORY WE FIGHT. EXCELLENCE IN HIS MIGHT!”
This is who we are: ALL IN FOR CHRIST! We are Kairos.
