Steely Determination

My good friend Jonny from YWAM (Youth With A Mission) defines passion as "steely determination". I like that. I like it a lot. Passion is more than a feeling, more than being excited about something. Passion is commitment. Passion remains unbent despite significant resistance. Passion requires dedication and it requires sacrifice (you don't really want to get me going on sacrifice, but I am absolutely convinced that sacrifice is the foundation upon which every work of God is built). Passion is also a transforming agent that can make a man either a beast or an angel. Passion is putting all that you are and all that you have and all that you can muster into everything you do. Reflect a bit today about what you are truly passionate about, about what you are committed to enough to pursue with "steely determination".

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Pet 1:5-8 ESV
