Don Bosco

"Give me souls" was the cry of his heart, and the title of a book written about him that significantly impacted my life. A simple man with a huge heart, Don Bosco dedicated his life to working with wayward boys. "Any boy in trouble is my friend" was another motto of his. Apparently, he had a dream at age 9 that was to guide his life—a dream of boys playing, some of whom turned into lambs and some of whom turned into wolves. His life's ambition was to see as many turn into lambs as possible. He provided for them physically and spiritually, and was able to see "the diamond in the rough" and to call the best out of troubled young men. Lord, raise up many Don Bosco's in our day, to reach out to the hordes of troubled young men that inhabit our cities and fill our streets. Raise up workers, to reach out to souls that are lost—give us souls!

Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me. Col 1:28-29 ESV
