We are pleased to inform you that on 1st August 2023, the Sword of the Spirit has signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement with Philippines-based Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP).

BCBP was founded in 1980, initially as an outreach of Manila-based Ligaya Ng Panginoon (Joy of the Lord) Community and has since become an independent “partner in mission” of Ligaya.

This movement was formed to do strategic evangelization of members of the business community.  This is done through a weekly breakfast meeting where prospects are invited by existing members to a free breakfast where they experience fellowship with their peers.  The breakfast is capped by a conversion story of one member.  In most cases, the invitees come back, become regular attendees, and even sponsor their friends and colleagues.  Regular attendees then get invited to a Life in the Spirit Seminar, which is given in each breakfast venue once or twice a year.

From one breakfast venue at the heart of Manila’s business center in 1980, other breakfast venues quickly developed in other locations in Metro Manila and eventually in other towns and cities in the Philippines and abroad.  BCBP currently has 19,000 members and operates 160 breakfast locations in the Philippines, Asia-Pacific, the United States and Canada.

In 2016, BCBP became a full member of UNIAPAC (Union Internationale des Associations Patronales Catholiques) – the International Christian Union of Business Executives – which was born in Belgium in 1931, and was formally established in 1946. It is currently headquartered in Paris.  Its membership consists of Christian business leaders associations from 40 countries in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa representing 45,000 business leaders.  UNIAPAC advocates for an economy based on the dignity of the person and the promotion of business as a noble vocation.

To promote a common mission between SOS and BCBP, a Service Team consisting of three members from each organization was appointed for a 3-year term, with PV Beley, President of the BCBP, appointed to be its head.  An initial meeting of the Service Team is being planned for early next year.
